Community trade union endorses my campaign to be selected as Labour’s next parliamentary candidate for Rugby

I’m delighted that my trade union, Community, has endorsed my campaign to be selected as Labour’s next parliamentary candidate for Rugby.

I’m proud to be a member of a trade union that has done so much to fight for the rights of Britain’s steel workers in recent months and over many years, challenging the Conservative government’s lack of long-term support for this vital industry.

My union also campaigns on a wide range of important issues for working people, including current a campaign against violence and assault in the justice sector, a campaign to raise awareness of the menopause, and an Early Years Charter to improve conditions for early years professionals, nannies and nursery workers, to name only a few.

Community represents and supports workers in every sector of the UK economy from steelworkers to office workers to the self-employed and have campaigned for the rights of the self-employed, a disparate group of over 5 million people whose rights and interests are often at risk of being overlooked.

My campaign theme is Together We Can, and as I’ve said on this website and in conversations with Rugby Labour Party members, my approach is to reach outwards to engage with the wider community and trade unions are a key part of this.

I look forward to working with Community if I’m selected and thank them for their support.
